The renewal ballot result has unlocked a total investment fund of £515,000 for Milngavie town centre for the next 5 years, that includes a £30,000 annual contribution over 5 years (£150,000) from East Dunbartonshire Council; and £365,000 from businesses located in Milngavie.
Improvement Districts work by pooling and sharing resources between local businesses, working with other private, public and third sector partners, take a leading role in improving local economic conditions.
This is achieved by delivering an agreed package of investment and initiatives over and beyond that delivered by local and national government, published in a five year business plan.
Milngavie town centre became a business improvement district in May 2014, for a first 5 year term to 30 April 2019. The Milngavie Town Centre BID Ltd company was formed and delivered the 2014 – 2019 business plan during the first 5 year BID term.
In April 2019, following a renewal ballot vote between all participating businesses, it was agreed to continue with the improvement district until 30 April 2024. The vote was based on the projects and proposals in the 2019 – 24 business plan that can be downloaded in full from the ‘Plan to 2024‘ section of this website.
