The first 5 year term of the Milngavie improvement district produced a number of excellent events and initiatives that have helped to improve both the environment and the image of the town centre.
At a time of business uncertainty, the work carried out has been invaluable in maintaining and enhancing what we have here in Milngavie.
Running an improvement district is extremely challenging and we have all learned much in the last five years. As well as all the events and environmental improvements that have been put in place, the experience we have gained puts us in a great position to achieve an even greater amount in a second term.
At a time of financial uncertainty at local and national level, and with the challenges we face, it is imperative that we stick together in order to make sure that we act and speak with a unified voice. A group voice is much more powerful than an individual one.
We need to ensure that we provide a platform for every business to thrive – a place where people enjoy coming to work, shop, eat, find services or simply to socialise in the attractive public space.
Some of our achievements include
Completed public realm projects.
West Highland Way signage.
Underpass mural art.
Street Banners.
Street Planters.
Shop Front Improvement programme.
Past Events.
Food and Drink Festivals.
Classic Car Shows.
Christmas Lights Switch On.
Healthy Habits Event.
Window Wanderland.
On behalf of all levy payers, a big thank you to all board previous members who volunteered their time during the first five year term.
